The IEEE 802.3 Working Group develops standards for Ethernet. 802.1 develops networking best practices. 802.11 handles WiFi. Their WG web pages are ugly.
Ones worth knowing include:
Standard | Year | Common name | Topic |
---|---|---|---|
802.1d | 1990, 1998, 2004 | Bridges | Bridging and spanning trees 802.1d-2004 incorporates 802.1w |
802.1q | 1998, 2003, 2014, 2018 | VLANs | Virtual LANs 802.1q-2014 incorporates 802.1aq |
